2022 Simola Hillclimb Gallery [Part 1]

The 12th edition of the Simola Hillclimb took place this past weekend. Double Apex was in attendance thanks to the kind folks of Suzuki South Africa. We bring you the 2022 Simola Hillclimb Gallery Part 1, a brief look at Friday’s action.

As per tradition, the event started with Classic Car Friday for vintage and classic road and racecars. Ian Schofield secured his first Classic Conqueror title. He piloted a 1977 March Ford 77B Formula Atlantic (gold car pictured) single-seater to a winning time of 42,302 seconds. Rui Campos took second place in the all-or-nothing Top 10 Shootout in his 1974 Porsche 911 RSR. Third place went to Josh Dovey in a 1972 Chevron B20 F3 single-seater (red car pictured).

There were plenty of interesting machines taking part in various classes. We were trackside on Friday watching the golden oldies attack the 1,9 km course.
