If the name Factory Five sounds familiar, it’s because we’ve run a story on one of its creations before, this 1935 Drift Truck. The company that operates by the credo: Built not Bought has created its very own supercar, called the Factory Five F9R.

Track-ready
Factory Five debuted a new, bespoke platform at the recent Sema Show (click here for our bespoke galleries on the event, Part 1 and Part 2). That debut was a precursor to this track-ready supercar that was conceptualised and created entirely in-house by the small, Massachusetts-based company.
The Factory Five F9R is a concept model, for now, with the first cars scheduled to leave the factory early in 2020. As you can see from the images, the low-slung (it’s under 1 200 mm high) design is quite dramatic. Factory Five expects F9R will tip the scales at just over one metric ton. The F9R in the video below was envisioned as a racecar. Factory Five plans to offer a street-legal model named F9. Under that long bonnet is a 9,5-litre, naturally aspirated V12 engine tuned to deliver just over 520 kW along with 950 N.m of torque.
