1. Ford SuperTruck – Electric Bakkie Turned Hillclimb King

The winning vehicle at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed Ford SuperTruck

Who thought Goodwood FoS 2025 would be ruled by hypercars? In a ‘shock’ to many, the quickest run up the hill didn’t come from a Le Mans prototype or exotic supercar, but from an all-electric Ford SuperTruck. This wild one-off prototype, loosely based on an F-150 Lightning, packs a trio of electric motors delivering upwards of 1 193 kW. Its insane aero kit generates about 2 722 kg of downforce at 241 km/h, gluing this bakkie to the track. With racing ace Romain Dumas at the wheel, the SuperTruck blitzed the 1,87-km hill in 43,23 seconds, easily claiming this year’s crown. That time made it the outright “King of the Hill” and the fourth-fastest Goodwood run ever.

2. Subaru WRX “Project Midnight” – Rallycross Rebel on Tarmac

Subaru WRX Project Midnight

If the SuperTruck demonstrated EV power, Subaru’s WRX Project Midnight flew the flag for internal combustion heroics. This menacing WRX packs a turbocharged boxer engine tuned to a staggering 500 kW and 922 Nm, complete with a flame-spitting hood-exit exhaust. Weighing under 1 120 kg, Project Midnight completed the run in a scorching 45,03 seconds, making it the fastest internal-combustion car at Goodwood 2025.

3. Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Analogue Racer Meets the Hill

Porsche 911 GT3 Cup

Amid all the high-downforce hypercars, a humble Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car reminded everyone that simplicity still wins races. Featuring a 375 kW naturally aspirated flat-six, the GT3 Cup completed the hillclimb in 46,74 seconds, securing third overall. This Porsche GT3, piloted by 19-year-old James Wallis, proved there’s still magic in a pure driver’s car.

4. Koenigsegg ‘Sadair’s Spear’ – Piercing into 4th Place

Koenigsegg ‘Sadair’s Spear’

The surprise breakthrough at Goodwood FoS 2025 wasn’t just a hypercar—it was Koenigsegg’s ‘Sadair’s Spear’, which roared into 4th place overall. Test driver Markus Lundh put the twin-turbocharged 5,0-litre V8 to good use. He drove the lightweight Jesko-derived machine to a blistering 47,14-second run. His time was the quickest of all road/production cars at this year’s event Read more about the new track focused machine at this link.

4. Shadow-Chevrolet DN4 – Can-Am Legend Unleashed

Shadow-Chevrolet DN4

Goodwood loves nostalgia, and nothing embodied raw vintage power like the Shadow-Chevrolet DN4. This Can-Am legend from 1974 features a massive Chevrolet V8 displacing nearly 8,0 litres, producing 634 kW and weighing only 840 kg. British hillclimb champion Alex Summers wrestled the Shadow up the hill in 47,88 seconds, proving the old again true once again there’s no replacement for displacement.

Honourable Mention: Holden Commodore V8 Supercar – Aussie Thunder on the Hill

Holden Aussie Touring Car

This Holden Commodore V8 Supercar, a retired Australian touring car deserves special mention. It has 447 kW naturally aspirated 5,0-litre V8 that has around 1 300 kg to haul. BTCC racer Jake Hill muscled it up the Goodwood hill in 48,35 seconds. This Commodore brought a thunderous Aussie presence, delighting fans with its distinctive roar.

The 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed’s quickest cars could not be more different, and that’s exactly the appeal. From futuristic electric innovation to vintage raw power, each car offered something special, leaving enthusiasts eager for next year’s event.
