Chinese consumer electronics firm Xiaomi has been making waves with its Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. This battery powered sedan is the company’s first foray into the performance sector. To underline its dynamic credentials the SU7 Ultra EV stars in Qionghai Drift, its very own action video. As a reminder, the four-dour, four-seater Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype packs a serious punch. Its three electric motors have a combined 1 139 kW of power. As a result it can blast from rest to 100 km/h in 1,97 seconds and from 0-200 in 5,96. Those figures would make it quick in a straight line. In addition, it seems to have proper dynamic credentials as seen by its recent Nurburgring lap time.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype was recently featured in numerous automotive websites as it set a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of 6 min 22 sec. That time makes it the fastest ‘production’ car around the famous German circuit. It is also 24 seconds quicker than the car has lapped the Green Hell on a previous occasion. Even more headlines were grabbed when a similar car was seen leaving the gates of Ferrari’s HQ in Maranello. Although rival benchmarking is standard industry practice, the appearance of a Chinese-made car at the Italian company’s factory set tongues wagging.

A Fun Side

The SU7 Ultra EV stars in Qionghai Drift video to show that it has a more playful character, too. The video, reminiscent of those made by the late Ken Block, shows the sedan sliding through city streets, under overpasses, on abandoned racetracks and closed off business parks as the driver rushes to his wedding. Xiaomi even takes a potshot at ICE cars as it meets a V8‑powered Toyota 86 for tandem drifting on a mountain pass.
