FIA RX Crash at the season-opener in Abu Dhabi last weekend

Earning air miles

At the season-opening event held in Abu Dhabi this past weekend, Reinis Nitiss found himself in the most unexpected situation. The Hyundai i20 driver ramped a kerb during the semi-finals and was sent skywards. He made contact with fellow competitors and momentarily perched on top of the Renault Megane of Anton Marklund.

Nitiss landed heavily back on terra firma and sustained enough damage to remove him from the race immediately. The Megane was able to continue, but damage to rear wing hampered his Marklund’s performance so that he was placed last of the five runners.
